Wessex Economics is the child of Chris Cobbold. Chris has over 25 years experience as a consultant in economic development, housing and regeneration. From 1997 to 2012 Chris was a Director at DTZ, heading up DTZ’s economics team, then leading DTZ’s housing practice group. Look at the case studies page to read about some of Chris’ projects.
Chris has also been an expert advisor to the Department of Communities and Local Government. He was one of just two private sector members on CLG’s Housing Markets and Planning Analysis Expert Panel. He has worked extensively for central government departments on economic development, housing and regeneration issues.
Chris’ style is collaborative rather than competitive. Through Wessex Economics, Chris works with a network of associates to bring together the best team for the project. This approach gives clients the scope for particular individuals with specialist expertise or local knowledge to be incorporated into the project team.
While working professionally as an economist, Chris has never forgotten his first job in Nottingham, working as a community development worker in inner city Nottingham on employment projects. Wellbeing ultimately has to be experienced at the grassroots. Strategy and planning done well is part of the means of ensuring that wellbeing is delivered to the lowest level.
